Is It in You?

Colossians 2:6-23; 3:1-17
Most Christians are aware that Jesus offers a "yoke"
that is easy and a "burden" that is light for all
who follow Him. Yet, many Christians' lives are anything but
easy or light. Most of us find ourselves struggling and straining
to be Christian in our homes, schools and workplaces. Some
of us have quit trying or never tried in the first place.
The question is...why?
The answer lies in a common misconception Christians often
have about the type of lifestyle Jesus calls us to live. Though
we received our salvation by grace, we can easy fall into
the belief that living the Christian life is something we
do on our strength. But, Scripture tells us differently.
Like we do more often than we'd like to admit, the Colossian
church had received Christ but had then slipped back into
a legalistic, religious practice that depended totally on
their own will-power. Paul was grieved by this and reminded
the Colossian church that they we're to live in Christ "as
they received Him". The Christian life was meant to be
a lifestyle of drinking in daily what God has to sustain us
and give us abundant life.
