Standing in a Fallen
World: The Word of God and the Armor of God

In Ephesians 6, Paul says to put on the full armor of God
so that the Ephesian Christians can take a stand against
the devil’s schemes. As part of their armor, they are
to daily take with them the “sword of the Spirit, which
is the word of God” so that when the day of evil comes,
they may be able to stand their ground and not fall. In what
way is the Word of God a sword empowered by the Holy Spirit?
Why is it so effective in combating the lies and temptations
that come at us? Why is it important that we know how to
use it and carry it daily? As we approach Pentecost, let
us examine our understanding of how the Spirit of God works
together with his Word to provide us with a vital tool for
our growth, effectiveness and well-being as Christians.
