As we rehearse this week, celebration turns to sorrow as
the disciples learn Jesus will be leaving. Then arrest, humiliation,
and death come to their leader. All they could think of was
the grave and getting a new start. But by Sunday morning Friday’s
tragedy had turned into a victory they would have never dreamed
of.
If the disciples had listened to and remembered Jesus’
words and believed and trusted him, they would not have gone
fishing. The same is true for us. If we listen to Jesus we
won’t give up and turn away. When we take our eyes off
of Jesus, off of the cross, we begin to focus on other things
which lead us down an alternate path.
