Easter: Witnesses
of the Resurrection
~ Richard Lane
The Apostle Paul spoke of the death and resurrection of
Jesus Christ as being “of first importance” in
relation to his gospel message. Likewise, when Peter, Paul
and the early Church told an unbelieving world about Jesus,
they often stated that their Lord and Savior was indeed alive.
Easter reminds us that we, too, are witnesses of Jesus’ death
and resurrection and that when we speak to the world of His
work in our lives, we can say, "Jesus is alive." “Now,
brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to
you, which you received and on which you have taken your
stand…. For what I received I passed on to you as of
first importance: that Christ died for our sins according
to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised
on the third day according to the Scriptures…” (1
Cor. 15:1-4)
