Have you ever played with modeling clay? Maybe
you made a figure. You held it in your hands. It was soft
and pliable. You poked it with your thumbnail. It left an
impression. You rolled it against your arm. The hairs on
your arm left an impression. We are clay figures (Isaiah
64:8). Who and what is making the greatest impression on
the clay figures that we are? Spiritual formation is about
focusing our lives in the place that will insure God hand
is making the greatest impressions in our lives and not the
things of the world around us. How do we truly say, “Yet,
O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are
our Potter; we are all the work of your hand.”?
