| The Greatest Love-
And Christ on the Cross -Eric Shaw
Everyone desires to be loved. However, too often, we miss
the greatest love we have. When we understand how God views
us through the lens of his love it brings hope to our hearts.
It is difficult for us to grasp how a father could allow
his son to be beaten and die when he has the power to stop
it. To understand what the Father of all humanity had in his
heart, we must understand our sin and the consequences.
God is love (John 4:16). The Father is love. The Son is love.
The Holy Spirit is love. We are sinners. Sin brings a penalty.
The penalty could only be absolved through death. No death
was powerful enough, but the death of the Son. Only in the
death of the Son could we be declared free from the guilt
and consequences of our sins.
Paul says the historical demonstration of God’s love
is the cross. And he further shows the Holy Spirit is pouring
that same love into our hearts.
