In John 17:15-18 is Jesus' prayer for us to be protected
from the evil one as we go into a world we aren't truly a
part of, to do the Father's bidding in bringing many to Christ.
That tells us our job is to get out there but not get overwhelmed
by what we'll find.
Like walking a tightrope, we have to be sure we're going
forward but not falling off on either side.
What extremes has the church fallen into in the past?
Can we really love those in the world in ways they'll understand,
without taking on the sins of the culture? Or is the church
healthier without all that outside influence?
Here are two memorable tools to help us see our place in
the world:
A story about one person’s conversion
An analogy about being closed or open and its effects.
