Heeding the Word of God

When Jesus' future return was derided as a cleverly devised
myth, Peter defended it by appealing to the Word of God --
a lamp shining in a dark place. As Peter admonishes, we must
pay close attention to Scripture until
Jesus returns, regarding His Word as the only source of truth
and light in a world of confusion and darkness: "And
we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you
will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining
in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star
rises in your hearts." (2 Peter 1:16-21)
