| Worshiping Together
Eric Shaw
As the Church was birthed on Pentecost, we see followers
of Christ involved in worship (Acts 2:42-47). It was part
of their participating in one another’s lives. The Holy
Spirit moved powerfully and the people responded in worship
together.
In a very powerful way, the Holy Spirit was drawing the people
together in unity. This unity of the body was only possible
because they had all surrendered themselves to a greater call,
the call of Jesus.
In Hebrews 13:15-16 we see it is through Jesus that we offer
God a sacrifice of praise. What kind of praise? The fruit
of lips that confess God: Father, Son, and Spirit; doing good;
sharing; etc., which is a similar picture to what was happening
in Acts 2. Through the sacrifices of doing and sharing we
are pleasing to God.
In this context, what should worship look like in our lives
today?
