Blessing the
God Who Blesses Us
~ Eric Shaw
Ephesians 1:3-14 is one sentence in the original. It focuses
on God’s goodness – his greatness and glory,
the fact he has chosen us, that he blesses us with the most
wondrous of blessings, his boundless purpose in eternity
and his holiness, how he has delivered us, forgives us, blesses
us with wisdom and understanding, etc. Psalm 113:1-3 calls
us to remember to bless God: “You who serve God, praise
God! Just to speak his name is praise! Just to remember God
is a blessing – now and tomorrow and always. From east
to west, from dawn to dusk, keep lifting all your praises
to God!” (The Message). How does this impact our worship?
