Advent 2: Joy to Shout About
~ Charles
Albrecht
We rejoice even in the midst of turmoil because
we realize God is in control. Joy is not a superficial happiness
based on circumstances, but an abiding confidence in knowing
the God of the universe is the Lord of our lives and has
sent a Savior into our midst. As we move through Advent the
feeling of joy increases. The day of his appearing is coming
closer. We express joy because Jesus redeems, renews and
restores. The angel told the shepherds there was good news
of great joy and told them where to find the child. The shepherds
went. “When they saw this, they made known what had
been told them about this child; and all who heard it were
amazed at what the shepherds said. But Mary treasured all
these words and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds
returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard
and seen, as it had been told them” (Luke 2:17-20).
