A Community of Believers
~Richard Lane
“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple
courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with
glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor
of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily
those who were being saved” (Acts 2:46 47). Acts 2 describes
the church just after Pentecost – a unified community
of believers that cared for each other’s needs. One
lesson we can learn from their example is that real Christian
community is not about maintaining friendships, but about
loving each other in ways that often challenge our fears and
stretch us beyond our comfort zones. When we seek God’s
power to break down the walls that separate us from each other,
we become better equipped to break the barriers between the
church and the secular world.
